Cartwrights Waste Disposal Services LTD has led the independent waste management sector in Shropshire for 40 years. Our broad range of services covers every aspect of collection, recycling and disposal of waste generated by industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.

Established in 1983 by founder John Cartwright, the company has grown exponentially over the four decades of trading. Starting off with one skip lorry and 7 skips back in the early 80’s the fleet expansion now covers a broad spectrum of services including trade waste, roll on roll off, tipper and grab hire, recycled aggregates, walking floor haulage, road sweeper hire and the all-important hazardous waste management.

With the headquarters and the main operating facility based in Telford, Shropshire consisting of a fully licenced waste transfer station and recycling centre, just 3 miles from the M54 motorway this gives the company easy access to service not only Shropshire but also its surrounding county borders of Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Powys, and the West Midlands.

Cartwrights are fully committed to sustainable waste disposal, having traded as a ‘Zero 2 Landfill’ business since 2013. The leading company applies the waste hierarchy system recycling as much waste as possible, any residue waste that cannot be recycled, is processed into the recovery process of refuse-derived fuel. The recovered waste will be harnessed to create energy and electricity further avoiding needless landfill.

In recognition of their commitment to the environment and the waste hierarchy the company has been awarded the Waste Management British Standard PAS 402:2013 for the second year running. PAS 402 certification provides waste contractors and clients, assurance that waste is being managed by an approved company who are dedicated to protecting the environment. PAS 402 requires a waste resource management organisation to report how it conducts its waste management activities, landfill diversion and material recovery rates.

In keeping trend with climate change and sustainability the company has invested heavily in to ‘greener’ machinery and vehicles by using only Euro 6 Engine vehicles, upgrading machinery to electric state of the art equipment, and installing an integrated software solution allowing the company to go paperless. And if that’s not enough the electric used to operate the equipment and power the headquarters offices are also generated by their own solar panels produced energy, giving Cartwrights a full circle approach to sustainability. The Future looks bright for the company with increased recycling productivity in the last 5 years; the headquarters have moved across the road to a new premises to enable more recycling production at their permitted recycling facility and the Purchase of ‘Farley Aggregates’ an aggregates recycling quarry in Shropshire.

Happy 40th Birthday Cartwrights, here’s to another decade of all things waste.
